Gulliver's Local Moving Specialists
Gulliver is a no-frills western suburb of Townsville that offers some of the most affordable housing in the inner ring. It sits between Currajong and Cranbrook, with Woolcock Street forming its northern boundary and providing a direct run to the western corridor and beyond. The suburb has a strong working-class character with many residents employed in trades, transport and the nearby industrial areas. Gulliver is practical rather than pretty — the blocks are big, the homes are solid and the streets are wide enough to park a boat, a caravan and a truck without anyone blinking.
Housing in Gulliver is predominantly 1970s and 1980s lowset brick and tile on large flat blocks, with a handful of older elevated timber homes scattered through the eastern streets. Many properties have oversized sheds, carports with boat storage and extended driveways for work vehicles. The homes themselves are straightforward — three bedrooms, open-plan living and either a single or double garage. Some of the larger blocks have been subdivided with granny flats or secondary dwellings at the rear, which can affect truck turnaround space.
Gulliver has excellent truck access thanks to the wide residential streets and flat terrain. Woolcock Street along the northern edge is a major east-west arterial and our primary access route. The internal streets like Dalton Street and Gulliver Street are generous enough for our largest truck to turn around in a cul-de-sac. The only access complication is the occasional property with a rear granny flat where we need to navigate past sheds and stored boats to reach the second dwelling. We confirm the layout before every Gulliver job.

Moving Day in Gulliver
Gulliver moves are honest, no-nonsense jobs. We pull up at seven outside a lowset brick home on Dalton Street. The driveway is wide enough for our truck to reverse in next to the carport. The owner is already outside, gesturing at the shed — there is a chest freezer, a workbench, two sets of shelving and half a dozen fishing rod holders that all need to come.
We start with the shed because the heavy items are in there and we want them at the back of the truck. The chest freezer goes on the trolley and up the ramp first. Then the workbench, which we disassemble into the top and legs on site. The fishing gear gets wrapped in blankets and laid flat on the truck floor.
Inside, the house is a standard three-bedroom lowset. Wide hallway, big doorways, no stairs. The lounge suite, dining table and beds clear out in under an hour. The fridge is in the garage — they always are in Gulliver — and it slides straight onto the truck. By nine o'clock we are loaded and heading west to the new place in Bohle Plains. The drive takes fifteen minutes along Woolcock Street. Unloading into another flat lowset is quick work, and we are finished by eleven-thirty.
