Moving Day in Bushland Beach
Bushland Beach is our most common delivery destination in the northern suburbs. Today it is a family moving from Pimlico — a hospital nurse and her partner with two kids under five, upgrading from a three-bedroom rental to a four-bedroom new build.
We loaded the Pimlico unit first thing at six-fifteen, beating the hospital traffic on Fulham Road. The unit was a second-floor walk-up, so the loading took an hour and a half with stair work. By eight o'clock the truck is on Stuart Drive heading north, and by eight-twenty we are rolling into the Bushland Beach estate.
The new house is on one of the newer streets — wide frontage, double garage, concrete driveway that the truck reverses straight into. The garage becomes our unloading bay. Fridge, washing machine and dryer go to their spots first. Then the big furniture — lounge suite into the living room, dining table into the open-plan area, beds into each bedroom.
The kids' rooms are the priority. We assemble both beds, position the toy storage and stack the labelled boxes against the far wall. The parents want the kitchen functional by tonight, so we unload all kitchen boxes onto the benchtops for easy unpacking. By eleven o'clock the truck is empty and the family is already setting up the kids' playroom. The ocean breeze is coming through the windows and it feels like home already.
