Moving Day in Bluewater
A Bluewater job starts with an early drive up the Bruce Highway from our depot. We turn off onto Bluewater Drive and the first thing you notice is how the blocks get bigger and the houses spread out. This particular move was a four-bedroom home on a two-acre lot — the driveway was about 150 metres of compacted gravel with a slight uphill grade.
Our lead bloke walked the property first. The main house had a wide front verandah but the hallway inside was narrow, so we took the fridge and the larger wardrobe out through the back sliding doors instead. The shed out back had a full workshop setup — welder, compressor, workbenches, plus about thirty banana boxes worth of tools and parts the owner had accumulated over years.
We ran two trolleys on rotation between the house and the truck while the third crew member wrapped and stacked inside the vehicle. The gravel driveway slowed us down compared to a sealed suburban street, but the flat, open yard around the house gave us plenty of room to stage items. Loading took about four hours for the full house and shed contents.
The drop-off was a new build in Burdell, so sealed driveway, wide doorways, no drama. Total job ran about six and a half hours including travel. Bluewater moves always take a bit longer because of the driveway distances, but the lack of neighbours and traffic makes the actual work straightforward.
