The suburb sits within easy reach of the Riverway precinct to the north and the Bruce Highway to the south, giving residents the best of both the lifestyle and commuter corridors. Rasmussen State School serves the local community, and most daily needs are met by the shops in nearby Kirwan or Thuringowa Central.
Housing in Rasmussen is predominantly single-storey brick and block homes from the 1990s and early 2000s, with a handful of older high-set timber homes scattered through the original sections. Block sizes are typically 600 to 700 square metres with double garages or carports. The newer pockets feature standard four-bedroom project homes with rendered facades and tiled roofs.
