Mysterton is a small, quiet residential pocket sandwiched between Pimlico, Currajong and Hyde Park in Townsville's inner west. The housing in Mysterton is almost entirely single-storey — a mix of postwar timber homes, 1960s lowset brick and some newer infill builds on subdivided blocks. The timber homes along Edgar Street and Warburton Street are classic North Queensland designs with high ceilings, louvre windows and front verandahs. Some have been raised and built in underneath. The brick homes are no-fuss layouts with three bedrooms, a central hallway and a single garage or carport. A handful of modern duplexes have appeared on corner blocks in recent years.
Mysterton has no major roads running through it, which keeps truck access stress-free. The grid of residential streets connects to Fulham Road on the north and Hugh Street on the east, both of which provide quick routes to the rest of Townsville. Edgar Street and Warburton Street are the widest residential streets and can accommodate our full-size truck without blocking traffic. Parking is rarely an issue — most homes have off-street parking and the low density means the kerb is usually clear.

Moving Day in Mysterton
Mysterton is one of those suburbs where every move feels like a Sunday morning. The streets are dead quiet, the neighbours wave as we pull up, and there is always room to park the truck right out the front. We start at seven, and the only sound competing with us is the kookaburras in the mango trees.
This morning it is a three-bedroom timber home on Edgar Street. The house is original 1950s construction — high ceilings, timber floors, louvre windows along every wall. The front verandah is wide enough to stage furniture before loading. Bed frames, mattresses and the wardrobe come out first and get stacked on the verandah while we clear the back rooms.
The kitchen is small by modern standards but the fridge is full-size and wedged into a tight corner. We slide it out on a furniture pad, down the front steps and onto the truck. By eight-thirty the house is empty and swept. The drive to the new place in Mount Louisa takes twelve minutes. It is a modern four-bedroom with a double garage — we unload straight off the truck into the house through the garage. Beds are reassembled by ten o'clock and the crew is on the way to the next job. Mysterton moves are efficient because the suburb itself makes everything simple.
