Rosslea's Local Moving Specialists

Rosslea sits on the southern bank of the Ross River directly opposite the CBD, connected by the Dean Street bridge. It is one of Townsville's more affordable inner suburbs and attracts first-home buyers, investors and renters who want proximity to the city without the price tag of suburbs further north. The Riverway Drive corridor runs along its southern edge, providing quick access to Aitkenvale and the western suburbs. Rosslea shares its postcode and community with neighbouring Railway Estate, and both suburbs carry the legacy of the 2019 monsoon flooding that inundated low-lying streets near the river.
Rosslea's housing stock is a patchwork of old and new. Elevated timber Queenslanders on Iron Street and Perkins Street survived the floods better than the lowset fibro homes closer to the river, many of which have since been demolished or rebuilt. Newer raised homes on concrete stumps now sit alongside the original housing stock, creating a varied streetscape. Moves in Rosslea often involve navigating steep external stairs on the raised homes and clearing debris or stored items from under the house that accumulated since the rebuild.
Access into Rosslea is straightforward via Dalrymple Road from the south or the Dean Street bridge from the CBD. The internal streets are narrow in places, particularly around Iron Street and Perkins Street where parked cars reduce the effective road width. Our drivers prefer to arrive early before street parking fills up and position the truck as close to the property as possible. During the wet season we monitor river levels daily, if the Bureau of Meteorology issues a flood warning, we reschedule Rosslea jobs immediately.
Rosslea moves need a crew that understands flood-zone logistics and raised home access. R2G handles both with experience gained across hundreds of Townsville moves. We check every Rosslea property before the move, monitor wet season conditions and bring the right gear for stair work on elevated homes. Whether you are moving out of a rebuilt Queenslander or a ground-level unit, we get it done safely and on schedule.

Moving Day in Rosslea
Rosslea moves always require a bit of extra planning because of the flood history and the mixed housing stock. We send a driver out the day before to check the property access, stair configuration and street parking situation. On the morning of the move we arrive at six-thirty and park on the street outside, usually on Iron Street where there is enough width for the truck plus passing traffic.
The home is a raised Queenslander rebuilt after 2019, new concrete stumps, treated timber frame, modern kitchen and bathrooms but with the traditional elevated floor plan. External stairs run up the side of the house to a wide landing. We carry everything up the stairs and out through the front door, using blankets on the stair rails to prevent scratches.
Under the house there is always a collection of items, outdoor furniture, gardening equipment, storage tubs that were put there after the rebuild and never sorted. We load those separately and stack them at the back of the truck. By nine o'clock the house is empty and we are crossing the Dean Street bridge into the CBD, then heading north to the new place in Burdell. The whole job wraps up by one o'clock including reassembling beds and placing furniture.

Check flood overlays before buying or renting.
Some Rosslea streets are in the flood overlay zone. If you are moving into the suburb, check the Townsville City Council flood maps. We can advise on which streets have the best ground clearance for under-house storage.
Sort under-house storage before moving day.
Rebuilt Rosslea homes accumulate items under the raised floor. Go through everything at least a week before and separate what is moving from what is being disposed of. This saves the crew significant time on the day.
Arrive early for street parking.
Iron Street and Perkins Street have limited kerb space, especially with cars parked on both sides. We arrive before 7am to secure a spot close to your front steps and keep the carry distance short.
Protect stair rails during the move.
The external stairs on raised Rosslea homes have timber or metal handrails that scratch easily. We wrap the contact points with heavy blankets, but it helps if you remove any hanging plants or decorations from the stairway beforehand.
