Deeragun's Local Moving Specialists
Deeragun is an established suburb on the Bruce Highway corridor between Bohle and the newer northern estates. It predates the Bushland Beach and Burdell developments by a decade or more, giving it a more settled character with mature gardens and a mix of housing ages. Deeragun State School is the community anchor, and the suburb has its own small commercial area with a service station and a handful of shops. Residents here benefit from the northern corridor infrastructure without paying new-estate prices — the trade-off is slightly older housing stock and varied block quality.
Deeragun's housing spans several decades. The original sections have lowset brick-and-tile homes from the 1990s on generous blocks with established gardens and large sheds. Newer infill developments have added modern townhouses and compact homes on subdivided lots. Some of the original homes have been extended with granny flats or enclosed patios that can complicate truck access at the rear. The established gardens often include large palm trees and mango trees that overhang driveways.
The Bruce Highway runs along Deeragun's western edge, providing direct access south to the inner suburbs and north to the coastal estates. Internal streets are a mix of the original suburban layout — wider collector roads feeding into cul-de-sacs — and newer connector roads servicing the infill developments. Our trucks fit comfortably on all the main streets, though some of the original cul-de-sacs have tight turning circles that require careful manoeuvring. Moving Day in Deeragun
Deeragun is a transition suburb — people move here from the inner suburbs for more space, then sometimes upgrade again to the newer northern estates. This morning it is the second scenario: a family of four moving from a 1990s brick home on a large block in Deeragun to a new build in Jensen.
We arrive at six-forty-five and park on the collector road outside the cul-de-sac — the turning circle is too tight for our full-size truck to reverse in safely. We will hand-carry items from the house to the truck, about thirty metres. Not ideal, but the crew is fit and we use trolleys for the heavy stuff.
The house is a solid four-bedroom with a double garage and a large shed out the back. The garage has been converted into a rumpus room years ago, so we access it through the internal door. The shed holds a chest freezer, workbench, kayak and assorted camping gear. We load the shed first, then work through the house room by room.
The mango tree in the front yard drops low branches across the path to the truck. One of the crew holds branches back while the other two carry items through. It adds a few minutes but nothing major. By nine-thirty everything is loaded.
The drive to Jensen takes eight minutes along the highway. The new house has a double garage with a clear run from the truck to every room. Unloading is done by midday. The family is thrilled to have a brand new kitchen and the kids have already claimed their bedrooms.
