Like Bushland Beach, housing in Burdell is almost entirely new construction. Rendered brick homes with colorbond roofs, double garages and open floor plans dominate the landscape. Block sizes range from compact 400 square metre lots in the higher-density sections to 700 square metre lots on the estate perimeter. Single-storey homes are the majority, with some two-storey designs in the newer stages. The housing is uniform and modern, which makes every Burdell move predictable and efficient for our crew.
Burdell's estate roads connect to the same main corridor that services Bushland Beach, feeding traffic onto the Bruce Highway south. Moving Day in Burdell
Burdell moves are almost identical to Bushland Beach in terms of how the job runs — new homes, flat blocks, double garages and wide streets. The difference is price-point: the Burdell families are often younger, first-time buyers who have never moved with professional removalists before.
We start the day at six-thirty at a rental unit in Mundingburra. The couple has been packing for a week and the unit is stacked floor to ceiling with boxes, bags and loose items. We sort it all into the truck methodically — heavy boxes at the bottom, fragile items on top, furniture wrapped and secured against the walls.
The drive to Burdell takes fifteen minutes along the highway. The new house is in one of the middle stages — a four-bedroom single-storey on a 600 square metre block. The double garage is empty and the house is spotless. We reverse the truck in and start unloading.
The couple walks through with us, pointing to where each item goes. The master bed frame and mattress go up first, then the spare room, then the study desk. Kitchen boxes go to the bench, bathroom boxes to the ensuite floor. By ten-thirty everything is inside and the truck is empty. We sweep out the truck, do a final walk-through of the house to make sure nothing is missing, and head off. The couple is standing in their new kitchen looking slightly overwhelmed but very happy.
