Allow extra time for the Kennedy Highway ascent.
The road up to Kuranda through Barron Gorge is steep and winding with tight bends that slow a loaded removal truck considerably. Build extra time into your moving schedule and avoid scheduling arrivals during the busy tourist peak of late morning when Skyrail and Kuranda Scenic Railway traffic is heaviest.
Check driveway clearance before moving day.
Many Kuranda properties have rainforest vegetation encroaching on driveways and low-hanging branches that can catch a large truck. Walk your driveway beforehand and trim any overhanging branches. Let us know the driveway length and gradient when booking so we can bring the right vehicle.
Protect timber and electronics from humidity.
Kuranda sits in a high-rainfall zone and the humidity at range altitude is noticeably higher than coastal Cairns. Wrap timber furniture and any moisture-sensitive items carefully — we carry heavy-duty blankets and plastic wrapping to protect your belongings during the mountain move.
Avoid moving during wet season peak rains.
From January to March, Barron Gorge Road can be subject to landslips and temporary closures after extreme rainfall events. Monitor the TMR road conditions website before your move and have a contingency date in mind if you are booking during the wet season peak.
