Tips for a Smooth Cooktown Move
Move in the dry season.
The Mulligan Highway remains sealed and passable year-round, but properties on the outskirts of Cooktown can become inaccessible in heavy wet-season rain. We strongly recommend booking your move between May and October to avoid delays and access issues.
Book at least 4-6 weeks in advance.
Cooktown's remoteness means limited availability and longer travel times for our crew. Booking well ahead allows us to plan the 330km haul from Cairns, confirm road conditions and arrange any required overnight stays for larger jobs.
Consider storage if your move dates are flexible.
If your move falls near the start of the wet season, our Cairns depot offers secure short-term storage so your belongings are safe while you wait for road conditions to improve at either end.
Confirm access for large trucks at your property.
Many Cooktown properties have gravel or unsealed driveways. Let us know your property setup when booking so we can determine whether a smaller shuttle vehicle is needed for the final approach to avoid bogging or clearance issues.
